| Dear Friends, Members
of the United States-China Exchange Council, a non-profit corporation,
sincerely believe as do, many Americans and Chinese that there are
no irreconcilable conflicts of interest between the United States
and the Peoples Republic of China. In spite of their many differences
in history and culture, the people of both countries share a common
objective of peace, cooperation and friendship that can only be
achieved through the discarding of the misconceptions and misunderstandings
of the past and the recognizing of the important destiny that both
of our countries have for the future. The Council further believes
that this objective will be attained by the exchange of information
and the development of full scale cooperation.
In furtherance of this endeavor, the Exchange Council, with the
help of dedicated members and friends, has been conducting very
successful exchange programs between the people of the United States
and China for the promotion of friendship and understanding between
the two countries. The exchange of information resulting from meetings
of government officials, educators, and professionals with their
counterparts, were deemed to be extremely valuable by both the hosts
and visitors.
Members of the Exchange Council were delighted that the leaders
of both countries have reached an agreement to "build toward
a constructive strategic partnership through increasing cooperation
to meet international challenges and promote peace and development
in the world". Accordingly the Exchange Council is convinced
that its activities promote the goals of the agreement between the
two countries
With the dawn of the new millennium, it is important to note that
the United States has established its global leadership in information
technology. It is of equal importance to recognize that China, with
a population of 1.3 billion, has had an outstanding decade of economic
growth. This growth has already made China the third largest economic
entity in the world, and its momentum will continue to new heights
in the areas of global politics and economics.
Without
a doubt, comprehensive cooperation between the United States and
China will promote peace not only in the Pacific Rim and Asia, but
throughout the world. In addition to the joint efforts of the two
countries, the improvement and development of the United States-China
relations depends upon the friendly exchange of visits and ideas
between the people of both countries. The United States-China Exchange
Council through its professional exchange programs fosters understanding
and cooperation between the people of these two countries. Accordingly,
the Exchange Council can support, assist, and coordinate the visit,
either from China or to China, of any organization, company, or
individuals interested in exchange programs in government administration,
business operations, cultural activities, technology and business
enterprises, educational institutions, legal activities, and medical
and public health operations .
Please let us know if you can use the United States-China Exchange
Council resources. I am sure you will find our staff to be most
professional and accommodating.
Thank you for your interest in the United States-China Exchange
Council and I wish you the very best for the coming years.
Sincerely,
Byron D. Athan
